Since 2013, Giant Noise has worked with the team at the Austin Theatre Alliance, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization, as close partners to help develop media interest and public awareness for Austin’s historic Paramount and Stateside Theatres and all of their entertaining, enlightening and educational events and programs throughout the year. But as COVID-19 took hold around the country and it became unsafe for us to gather in large numbers, it was venues like the 105-year-old Paramount that closed their doors first. And so priorities, and concerns, have shifted, adapting to help protect and ensure the survival of Austin’s historic theatres.
We now help the Austin Theatre Alliance and its theatres, the Paramount and Stateside, to raise funds and call on community support, so that they can weather this challenging time and open back up to welcome patrons from Central Texas and beyond when it’s safe to gather again. Getting the word out across the community for their online summer auction, which offers up unique packages, Paramount relics and socially distanced experiences for bid, has proven a vital part of the fundraising process. We also work to bring awareness to ATA’s digital programming, including their Paramount Conversations series as well as online educational programs to keep kids engaged.
Those who are able should act now to support the beloved venues in your community in any way you can. Otherwise, when we go to look for places to celebrate once this is over, we may find many of them gone. And we could all continue to benefit from the kind and inspiring words of encouragement from the Paramount marquee.
