Concepts that share a story

Emmer & Rye team constantly shaking up the culinary scene

Influenced by the simplicity of Italian cuisine and the freshness of Scandinavian food, Emmer & Rye boasts a curated, weekly shifting menu with innovative craftsmanship using ingredients from local farms.

Grain-obsessed Emmer & Rye opened in November 2015 and was welcomed into the Austin culinary scene as one of the hottest spots in town. Since opening, Emmer & Rye has been named one of the Best New Restaurants in Bon Appétit‘s America’s Best New Restaurants 2016Texas Monthly’s Where to Eat Now 2016,  CultureMap Austin‘s Restaurant of the Year 2017, and Austin American- Statesman‘s Best New Restaurant 2018. Chef Kevin Fink has been named one of FOOD & WINE Magazine’s 2016 Best New Chefs, CultureMap Austin‘s 2018 Chef of the Year, StarChefs’ 2017 Rising Star Award, James Beard Foundation’s 2018 “Best Chef Southwest” Semifinalist, and James Beard Foundation’s 2019 “Best Chef Southwest” Finalist.

Giant Noise was able to help launch Emmer & Rye’s reputation as one of the country’s best new restaurants and has since worked with their team to establish the unique restaurant in trend pieces and beyond. Since opening Emmer & Rye, the team has opened a new concept at Fareground in downtown Austin, Henbit, as well as their most recent anticipated openings: Hestia & Kalimotxo.

Hestia, named after the “Greek goddess of the hearth,” is a live-fire, modern-day grill house lead by ExecutiveChef Kevin Fink and partner Tavel Bristol-Joseph. This modern grill house integrates chef-focused service to provide a more intimate look into the food. Named one of “Austin’s most ambitious restaurant” by Austin American-Statesman, Hestia lives up to the hype of one of the most anticipated restaurants in the Austin culinary scene.

With Hestia opening its doors amid the COVID-19 crisis, the team has pivoted their business model to adapt to the current F&B industry offering takeout options from all their concepts, retail wine & a gourmet grocery.

This year, Chef Tavel-Bristol Joseph has been named Food & Wine‘s Best New Chef Class of 2020!
