Through its own quality programming and by serving as a venue for area arts organizations, The Paramount is an anchor for the Austin arts community and hosts more than 200,000 audience members each year for comedy, music, film, theater, and other cultural events. The Paramount currently operates alongside the neighboring State Theatre under The Austin Theatre Alliance (a 501(c)(3) nonprofit), and the theatre is home to both SXSW Film and the Austin Film Festival.
The team at The Paramount saw a need to support Austin’s growing comedy scene, and thus the idea for an annual comedy festival hosted at the venue was born. Established in 2012, The Moontower Comedy and Oddity Festival is dedicated to bringing world-class comedy to the city through a variety of performances in stand-up, sketch, improv, and musical comedy by well-known performers and up-and-comers alike. Since 2013, Giant Noise has worked with the Paramount team to develop media interest and public awareness of the 100+ film screenings and 200+ events hosted at The Paramount Theatre each year, including Moontower.
